City and Suburbs Bricklaying Pty Ltd (Trading as Mortar and Surface Restoration) were engaged by us to undertake the renovation work to the Tuck Pointing of the brickwork at Windsor and Prahran Railway Stations. This project has run for approximately 6 months and has just been completed.
The client was the Department of Transport via Connex Mainco joint venture, and all departments are very happy with the results. The stations were built in the late 1800's and were in poor condition, having been left with very little maintenance over the last 50 years. The Hawthorn bricks were still in reasonable condition but the mortar had been severely washed out in some places, leaving the Tuck Pointing virtually non existent.
Mark Tink and his crew were very professional in their approach, working long hours and producing work to a very high standard. The job entailed a number of variations and Mark was always approachable and was able to help us matching existing stonework along with some very significant retaining wall repairs.
I am more than happy to recommend Mark and his crew for similar projects, as Windsor and Prahran Stations are testament to their skills and are on view for anyone to see.
